Raj D. Rao, MD
Dr. Rao is Professor and Director of Spine Surgery in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Medical College of Wisconsin. His special interests include surgical management of degenerative conditions of the neck and back, spine trauma, tumors and deformity.
Dr. Rao is a Board Certified Orthopaedic surgeon and fellowship trained in Spine Surgery. He completed his internship and residency at the University of Southern California. He has been practising spine surgery since completing his fellowship in 1996. He has published and taught at numerous national and international meetings, and is a member of numerous national medical committees. He is currently involved in numerous research projects on spinal problems.

The Medical College traces its roots to 1893 with the founding of the Wisconsin College of Physicians and Surgeons. In 1913 the Wisconsin College of Physicians and Surgeons and the Milwaukee Medical College merged to become the Marquette University School of Medicine.

In 1967 the school continued as a private, national, freestanding institution. Its name was changed in 1970 to the Medical College of Wisconsin. The Medical College has approximately 12,500 alumni.
